A few months into the lockdown in 2020, face-to-face classes at university were suspended, so I spent most time at
home cooking up a storm in the kitchen and also started my foodie blog, Phoebe’s Kitchen. I shared dishes
from different countries but there was one dish I shared that people on the internet were fondly attracted to,
the Mooncake Wellington. Astonished by how well the idea was received, I decided to take a gap year from
university to launch this product together with the support from my loving family (thank you!!). We are now
returning for the second year where you will find us both online, and hopefully some other physical pop-up
stores around Hong Kong during the Mid-Autumn Festival period!

First launched in Hong Kong at the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2021, the Mooncake Wellington had received overwhelming support with thousands of boxes sold within two months. Back by popular demand this year, Phoebe’s Kitchen returns with the classic Mooncake Wellington - Beef, alongside a brand new addition Mooncake Wellington - Salmon, following the big hit since the introduction of the unorthodox, East-meets-West savoury mooncake.
This year, Phoebe’s Kitchen has also teamed up exclusively with the five-star luxury hotel, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong to present a premium edition of Mooncake Wellington and a seasonal staycation package. Working closely with Phoebe’s Kitchen, Tiffin’s classic Beef Wellington is transformed into mooncakes, which are available in limited quantities with top-notch ingredients, encased in a truffle crust.
For an indulgent festive experience, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong has launched a ‘Mid-Autumn Steakation’ package. Guests can celebrate the reunion season over a feast featuring a special Mooncake Wellington at the ever-popular Grand Hyatt Steakhouse during their stay. More details of the ‘Mid-Autumn Steakation’ can be found from Grand Hyatt Hong Kong’s website.
The idea of Mooncake Wellington was first shared on Instagram by Phoebe in 2020, the founder of Phoebe’s Kitchen who was 21 years old at the time, with a mere intention of sharing her creation as a food blogger. With the post being widely shared across the internet, she decided to launch Mooncake Wellington in 2021. The product had quickly taken Hong Kong by storm with thousands of boxes sold within two months.
Upon graduation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong this year, Phoebe has decided to fully commit to her mooncake project, to continue on introducing this product to more people!
